Zack Wheeler is interesting as a comp to Stroman. I'm not sure - who'd take who for the next 5.5 months

I'm declaring this one a Big Game: Series on the line, a seeming pitching mismatch we need to win back to overcome the OD debacle, and demonstrate we know what to do with the little momentum we generated in the semi-fraudulent sweep yesterday. Plus, Petey needs to sing for his supper, Wheelie before live fans at Citi for the first time, Lindor, Conforto and Alonso facing the kinda guy they need to hit. IT'S ALL ON THE LINE TONIGHT!!!!!

Phils have shown very little in the way of defense — big ticket imports Realmuto and Harper excepted. And even Harper putzed Nido's double into a triple. The Mets don't need to be imitating McNeil's half-swings, but they need to put a little bit more in play. I hate the games where they strike out 14 times believing they're one swing away from the big three-run homer. And with Wheels on the mound, that sort of game seems to be looming.

Here we go Loup de Loup with the lead on the line. My problem with Familia is that neither of his old backbreaking out pitches is there. So he got ahead 0-2 and still had to be perfect.

It's amazing watching the Mets get out of it on a double-play ball that I still think of as a single when it leaves the bat, and then seeing Smith get a single on what looks like a double-play off the bat. I still don't have that much instinct on where infielders should be playing these-a-days.

I think that's exactly what's going on. They're being told in Chelsea that we don't want you to remake the call. We want you to consider if it's clear and convincing that the original call was wrong. And then they underlined clear and convincing, and they're hoping that, after a few disappointments, managers will lower their standard on when they'll make their appeals, and make fewer of them. At least, that's my impression. And I think it may be working.
