Off to the Rockies for the middle verse of a Dave Loggins special.

Cold, wet and white will describe the Coors Field atmosphere as well as many Mets.

deGrom and Stroman and two days of snow, man!

Re: IGT 4/16/2021: NYM@COL — Denver Where the Snow Falls

Mike Vaccaro says the Mets shouldn't send deGrom to the mound tonight. He invokes the memory of Tim Leary (the pitcher) but I'm recalling a game where Jon Niese pitched in the cold Denver weather and he paid a price for it. (Does anyone else remember that?)

Anyway: Mets should heed Denver forecast for Jacob deGrom's sake

National Weather Service wrote:
Widespread light snow showers will continue for much of the

morning with an additional inch of snow possible by midday. The

urban corridor and plains will see many dry hours during the

afternoon although a few isolated snow showers may redevelop.

Across the mountains, snow showers will increase in coverage and

intensity during the afternoon with the highest additional

snowfall amounts of between 2 to 6 inches along the mountains of

eastern Summit and western Park counties.

Good weather for watching the game (on television).

Niese pitched consecutive starts in Minneapolis and Denver in April 2013, both in frigid conditions. He missed time later that year, but I don't remember a connection.

Re: IGT 4/16/2021: NYM@COL — Denver Where the Snow Falls

I'm not a "Schedule Maker" but it seems logical not to have teams that play in other divisions travel to Colorado in April, not because it's so darn cold but there could be two or three postponements this weekend and that creates (further) havoc on the schedule. Yes, it can snow in New York in April but it's far less likely.

It would be even more logical (and, admittedly, a lot more expensive) to have a retractable roof on a stadium that's built in Denver.

Not scheduling night games on Saturdays in April would be an idea they might want to consider.

“Had to” help a friend get rid of stuff in a beverage fridge that has been overstocked for months (most of the stuff, meant for guests, isn't what they usually drink and obviously frequent gatherings have slowed) at a dinner party last night.

The holiday seasonal beers that I consumed would have paired perfectly with watching said game, well, if it happened anyway ;)

Emptying an overstocked holiday fridge in the spring sounds like a great topic for ceetar's pottycast.

Was it finally determined that Paul Wilson hurt his arm by pitching in very cold weather?

That's more blog fodder imo.

I've got an overstocked (holiday) fridge too, my problem is that I always end up buying MORE beer when I have people over (or did) because i'm excited to try new things and use it as an excuse. It's a successful party when more beer is consumed than purchase. Most of my friends have stopped bringing beer for this reason.

I was also looking forward to zoning out tonight and watching some baseball, mostly uninterrupted except to refill my glass. Wish they could've flexed to this afternoon at least, once they saw the forecast starting to shape up thisway.

Probably for the best.

Also, four fewer innings we'll need from the bullpen.
