Good one.

I wonder what a fifth round choice in the old January supplemental draft equated to by June standards.

Wow! I had no idea. What's the story there? Why only that one game? And he was only eighteen years old!

Re: Oddballs in the Baseball-Reference Database

It was the last game of the season I think, over the Mets, and to his credit, I think he not only reached five times, but against four different pitchers.

Back surgery robbed him of most of the next two seasons. He played four more years in the minors after that before hanging them up.

There was a third Paciorek brother named Jim who played a season with the Brewers before putting together a decent career in Japan.

But he still loved baseball and later was a part owner of a major league team. (the Pirates?)

Big-shot NFL linebacker/defensive back Shaq Thompson. If you don't want to click that link, I can give you the skinny right here. He was an incredible 0-for-39 with 37 strikeouts.

He did manage to walk eight times, so there's that.

Governor Cuomo left baseball after 1 season with a .383 OBP - no appreciation of the base on balls in 1950!
