Peraza has played both shortstop (284 games) and center field (21 games) (and other positions, too) in his major league career.

Kilome may one day find better command of his pitches and will become an effective major leaguer. Of course, teams have been waiting for that for a while.

MRC is waiting on how the roster spot gets opened up. Early betting is on (1) a DFA for Tarpley, (2) a 60-Man IL assignment for Loogie, (3) a Zamora DFA. Longshot money is starting to show interest in (1) a Drew Smith DFA, and (2) a trade of one of their four rostered catchers, possibly to the very same Braves team they will be playing this evening.

I believe he gets a pro-rated portion on the major league minimum salary for one day's service time. So he's not going to buy a new Mercedes or anything.

Yeah, I don't know where this 'one month for one day' thing comes from. AFAIK, he gets credit for one day of ML service time, gets paid at the ML minimum wage rate for one day (1/182nd of a season) and gets his butt on the ML pension plan.

I seem to recall that if a player spent one day on a major league roster he got a minimum of one month's salary. But that was years ago when a teams were limited in how many times it could only bring up/ send down a player. And that was way before you could do that multiple times in one season. With changes to the option rules since then, and with this "27th man" stuff, I was curious how much, or if, the payment of a month's salary had changed. And that's why I asked the question. The pro-rated solution seems right, because I couldn't dream of management wanting to pay a player a full month's salary if he is going to ride the bench for one day as the 27th man. Thanks, Later

Mets Roster Central will be keeping a vigil. The human in me is rooting for Cameron Maybin. To be honest, the Met fan in me still thinks that he has a better chance of helping this year than Lee does. Wishful thinking'll mess you up. That said, somebody is going have be removed from the 40, and any Maybin demotion will have to include exactly that. Most of the guys at Met Roster Central have their money on Tovar hitting the waiver wire, though.

I like Mazeika's bat and his approach, but I found Reid-Foley's presence to be a meaningfully more useful asset than Maz was. But I understand the guys with options tend to go first. They're still going to have to bump somebody off the 40 in the next few hours.

Sounds like it's gonna be brutal. I imagine that they'll clear up the three-catcher bidness, and either demote Zeke or IL Nido. Beyond that, Yennsy will probably get a pass to Syracuse. Move #3 would seem to come down to a demotion or DFA for Reid-Foley, Smith, or Eickhoff. I would assume that means SRF, as he has options.

Two, just two, players may be added to the roster today in the September roster expansion. I can't imagine that they need any more pitchers other than another LHP. I guess the other spot goes to McCann if he's ready so they can "carry" three catchers. Peraza is rehabbing in Syracuse. Drury could be another candidate. UPDATE: WRONG!!!
