Congressman Gaetz in Hot Water (split from Politics 2021)

Report: Rep. Matt Gaetz under investigation for sexual relationship with 17-year-old Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., is under investigation by the Department of Justice for a sexual relationship he allegedly had with a 17-year-old girl, the New York Times reported Tuesday. The investigation was started in the final months of the Trump administration under then-Attorney General William Barr, the Times reported. The agency is looking into whether Gaetz, a close ally of the former president, violated federal sex trafficking laws by paying for the young woman to travel with him outside of Florida. Not only is Gaetz stupid, but he's ... stupid. The newspaper (The New York Times) reported that Gaetz and his friend, Joel Greenberg, who was indicted last year on federal sex trafficking charges, recruited women online for sex and sent them money via Cash App and Apple Pay. Although Times reporters reviewed text messages related to the encounters as well as the payment receipts, the newspaper said some payments were made via cash from hotel ATMs in Florida. Receipts? See Enn Enn reports the Congressman was denied a meeting with Former President Trump, citing two sources that claim aides to the former president have urged him not to stick his neck out. Gaetz denies this and has demanded the cable news network print a retraction. So far, no retraction has been forthcoming, but the day is young.

Reading about what Joel Greenberg is copping to, it makes one wonder if prosecutors are willing to let him plead down on that kind of act, it boggles the mind to think what they might be hoping to pin on Congressman Gaetz.
