Steve Henderson's Met career ended when he was traded for Dave Kingman in the 1980-1981 offseason. He was acquired in the Seaver deal in 1977.
Neither of those facts is particularly obscure, but you put them together along with the fact that the Mets dealt Kingman at the same time as Seaver in the same Midnight Massacre, and it becomes suddenly clear that Steve's 3 1/2-year career the team was perfect Henderson sandwich nestled stunningly perfectly between two big slices of Kingman. It was almost literally an interregnum.
One or the other was on the roster for nine years, but they never spent a day as teammates.
