I created this post just as a quick way to see these charts from 1962 through today, because I was curious to see, at a glance, in which seasons the Mets strayed the least from the .500 mark. Other than the weird season of 2020, the seasons with the least extreme swings were 1975, 2005, and 2011.
I also noticed that there are only four seasons in which the Mets never dipped below .500: 1985, 1998, 2006, and 2007. In only one of those seasons did the Mets make the post-season, although they came very close in the other three.
