I don't know how people enjoyed major league baseball for 125 years with all the uncertainty over whether or not a baserunner's body may have come a incremental distance off the bag for a fraction of a second.

MLB is tinkering with the rules in A-ball to encourage stealing but sure, let's penalize a player for accidentally, because of physics, leaving the bag for a fraction of a second even though he was clearly safe. Those two calls tell you not to steal, not to take an extra base, which makes baseball even duller than it can be.

Maybe baseball should make up a rule that Mets baserunners are allowed to walk off the base whenever they feel like it, with impunity, and the defense isnt allowed to tag them out while they're off the base. Yeah, it's the rules' fault that Villar and deGrom were tagged out, not Villar or deGrom's fault. /rollseyes

Here's another rule proposal: whenever the Mets opponent wants to challenge an ump's call with a replay review, the Mets manager has the right to veto or block the opponent's replay review request.

That rail on the M&M porch is so stupid and needs to be moved back two feet. Beyond that, it would have been nice to hear the announcers stay with the play, because if that wasn't called a homer, I have no idea if Smith was out or safe at the plate. But... YAY! NEATO!

Ron is suggesting the break-even point in stealing is 80%. It's usually cited as 75%, but I think it should be treated more like 67%. I think we've overthought that.

Mazeika seems to have good bat-to-ball skills. A nice waste pitch swing kept that AB alive. And his K rate in the minors isn't real high, at least considering the era.

Yes, I believe there are probably guidelines or limits and that Rojas has some discretion to operate around those pre-arrsnged constraints.

I've never been in agreement with the idea that expansion hurts pitching more than hitting. Teams are carrying as many as 15 pitchers. Top starters are being pulled after five or six innings, despite pitching effectively. Lesser starters come out after four or five, despite pitching effectively. Yet scoring is falling precipitously. When is this dilution going to be felt?
