Yeah, I never work from that dread. I think if you spent some time digitally hobnobbing with fans of virtually any team, you'd find a whole lot of folks sincerely telling you how their team is particularly susceptible to unfamiliar pitchers.

Cholula's money must've been well spent, if you're still remembering it. I think they did better because (a) they had flames on the graphic, and (b) their ads were regularly rotating behind the batter and flanking the scoreboard.

I have this fear about tonight's game. DeGrom, competitor that he is, wills himself onto the mound despite injury. It goes poorly and he comes out of the game early with a more serious injury than they were originally talking about.

Soul Brewing? (I don't remember where you are)

IPA is no longer a meaningful descriptor of beer, so it's hard to say what might've turned you off. 'Standard' IPA (well at 8% it'd be a double IPA) do often have a little bit of like 'hop burn' just from all the alpha acids and such. It's usually more of a drying/acrid type feel than a bitter one. (If it is soul it doesn't seem to be very well regarded)

Some of the newer 'new england' IPAs have this pillowy mouthfeel, are hazy, but are so overloaded with hops it oven comes off with that same sort hop burn thing. It's not really good practice.

Anyway, It does seem like deGrom knows his limits, even if he's pushing up right against them all season. I could see him departing early again and the Mets not scoring enough, but who knows.

Re: IGT 06/16 - Cubs at Mets

Amazingly, the Mets seem to be congealing around a specific lineup of sorts.

Also, Guillorme seems to have bumped back ahead of Peraza — seemingly getting all the righthanders and leaving José to the lefties.

I'd still like to see him getting a stronger walkup song than "Brother Louie." It's not the worst, but it sort of has a dampening effect on my rooting energy.

    Thoughts on the game!!!!

*No masks. No social distancing. Indoors or outdoors (though we didn't go into a club). No one asked us for a vaccination card. If you're not fully vaccinated, I would be very wary of going.

*Atmosphere was electric for the first three innings. I've never experienced anything like it. Except for maybe a stray solo shot, the Cubs had no chance of scoring. Absolute dominance.

*In this age of social media, everyone knew right away that Jake went down into the tunnel. Euphoria from striking out the side, to everyone head down checking twitter. Missed the Dom HR because I was looking at my phone.

*the crowd absolutely loves Villar and Pillar. These guys are OPS-ing .764 and .719. That doesn't sound that impressive, but they seem to play better than their numbers. Great pickups.

*Was shitty to have to bring in Diaz in that game, but it's great to see the crowd greet him so well. I don't know this trumpet song at all, but it seems to get everyone jazzed up.
