IGT 6/23/2021: ATL@NYM — And Tylor, Too

G-Fafif
Jun 22 2021 09:36 PM

Tylor Megill makes his MLB debut. Mr. and Mrs. Fafif make their 2021 Citi Field debut. Perhaps somebody who isn't a Brave crosses a plate.

The action commences at 7:10. May none of us crumple in pain.

"Tylor Megill" seems like it came together from spilled Scrabble tiles.

At 6'7", he's tall, like Big Bird. He also sounds made-up, like Big Bird.

Good to be back inside. It all felt intrinsically normal, even in light of this and that being a little off. Made me wish last year's emptiness had been altogether skipped. A moment like Megill getting an ovation for a plucky four-and-a-third, having it interrupted so the requisite umpire search could be booed, and then resuming the applause once the stop & frisk concluded, well, you just don't get that from cardboard cutouts.

After two starts, I still like him a lot. May not have the endurance/repertoire to be a starter long term. But maybe could be a dominant relief guy. I guess we'll have to see if his secondary stuff continues to fool batters. Also would be cool if he added like 8 MPH to his fastball as he gets into his 30s.

Mostly not particularly high. MLB.com had him at 21st but this year he has already passed number #20 Franklyn Kilome and #10 Thomas Szapucki.

But that just feeds the deGrom comparison. Jacob got to AAA and blew past Zack Wheeler and Rafael Montero. Prospect ranking is educated guesswork. THEY CAN'T SEE A MAN'S HEART!
