IGT 6/29 - Mets at Braves

Mets head to Cobb County where the Braves try to squeeze some more magic out of wizened righthander Charlie Morton. The Mets deploy second-timer Tylor Megill.



The Mets last trip to Truist Park featured (to the extent that such a thing can be called a feature) the smashing of Kevin Pillar's face. Jacob Webb, who delivered that pitch, is currently with the Braves minor league affiliate in Richmond.

A few more pitches than you'd prefer -- although 7 Ks thru 4 will do that and, let's face it, he's not going 9 no matter what happens -- but, so far thru 2 starts, Megill fills the bill.

    If this suppression of power stays the norm, Guillorme has a skill set that can really play at the big league level.



    I'm not sure he has the fire, but he's got a lot of Backmanian skills.

    I appreciate that Almora can stay in and improve our ninth-inning defense, but I'm afraid that last swing just sealed his fate, and he's gonna be riding the DFA bus in a day or two if and when Nimmo returns.

    This game was Yuge-ness.

    A loss here wouldn't have turned the season around or anything, but the slide would have started to feel like a permanent state of affairs.

    Not to mention that I would have been one miserable muthafucka.

    Back to back games of our guys swinging with overcooked pasta noodles will do that to a guy.
