Reyes was having a rough year over the preceding 12 months. He'd snap out of it in 2008. So would the Mets, as much as they could. AMAZIN' FIREWORKS I preceded by days the club's long-awaited sustained burst of competence, which vaulted them into first place, if not to stay.
