IGT 7/11/2021: PIT@NYM — Breaking Good

G-Fafif
Jul 10 2021 08:51 PM

Let's win this last one before we are essentially rained out for four consecutive days. Chase De Jong starts for the Pirates. Luis Rojas has no corresponding answer as of Saturday night, but discourages Jake talk for Sunday.

Today is 7-11, so he'll just roll the dice.

Loup gets to fulfill his dream.

”Who wouldn't want to be the guy to start the game and then get to sit in the clubhouse and drink a few brews on the back end and watch the rest of it?” Loup said Thursday on a Zoom call from Port St. Lucie, Fla.

For the Syracuse Mets today, the 1st 6 hitters, plus 3 of the bench players, plus the starting pitcher, have played for the Mets this season:

Also, Nimmo would have caught the previous homer if the stupid rail wasn't there. Move back the rail.

I'm not thrilled to see either Castro today.

May and Lugo can't pitch a 2d day in a row with 4 days off ahead? Instead, he let Castro pitch a 2d inning when it's almost a miracle that he pitched one scoreless inning.

Re: IGT 7/11/2021: PIT@NYM — Breaking Good

So unfair that it's a nine inning game. If it were a seven inning game, it would have already ended and the Mets would've won.

The seven inning rule seems to be unfair only when the Mets lose a seven inning game, but not when they win a seven inning game.

I guess May and Lugo are fragile because they can't pitch two days in a row with the next 4 days off. It wouldn't have mattered if the Mets hadn't started their Break at 1:30 today.

The first-place Mets split a four-game series at home against one of the worst teams in baseball. In contrast, WSH swept PIT in DC a few weeks ago and they're under .500. Zack Scott has work to do.

Anything would have been better than giving Castro a 2d inning. That's when the game was lost. (That, and when the Mets batters went on vacation at around 1:30.)

Didn't see him starting, but one shutdown inning was tantalizing in theory.

Then again, Jake's never thrown in relief in a regular-season game.

Seaver wasn't so hot himself pitching for the Mets in relief on the last day of baseball before the All-Star break.
