One-Year Wonders: Kwiz Time

Inspired by the fact that Willie Harris somehow snuck into 126 games in 2011 (!), I wanted to figure out what other one-year wonders we've had. It's quiz time, friends. Bring it. Name these players who made it into 100 games in their one season as a Met.

Brett Butler: 90 games in 1995 before being dealt to LA.

WWSB: 90 games in 1992 before retirement.

Rey Sanchez: 56 games in 2003.

Richard Hidalgo: 86 games in 2004.

I got three of the four misses.

That doesn't bode well, but since I'm right about de Aza, I'm sticking with "Overexposed Reserve Outfielders," and going with Jeremy Reed for those 126 games in 2009.

My memory of Cuddyer is of killing rallies in the 2015 postseason, but it doesn't actually look like he had all that many at bats (especially few in the World Series) so I guess that memory is inflated.

Re: One-Year Wonders: Kwiz Time

I got a rule-fiver in my head. A lefthanded corner outfielder/first baseman/pinch hitter we stole (I think) from the Phillies, possibly for the 2011 season. He had a dozen homers and a strong year but disappeared. He might have played a few dozen games in a second Mets season, though.

Anybody know who I'm thinking of? I think his name invoked a bird or something, like "Hawkins."

Yeah, Jason Pridie was a star of the Wifey Watch Thread back in his day.

There's a lefty pinch-hitter called up in 2003 named Matt whose last name I'm failing to grab. He sticks out because Valentine complained openly about not having a veteran pinch-hitter. It was this Matt guy or, by the end of the season, Mike Glavine.
