How about that subtext last night, when the camera pointed across the river, and Gary said, "And across the Ohio River, we see the State of Kentucky" and right there in the middle of the shot is a white guy without a shirt sitting on a beach chair by the river bank just doing nothing? It'd be fun if the team traveled from Pittsburgh to Cininnati by boat, but I'm guessing that would not be as quick a trip as all that.

There may have been more than one river guy caught on camera. Funny, the first thing I thought was trying to see what cheap beer he had. The obvious fact that he was a white guy in Kentucky didn't occur to me until Edgy (the great 'splainer of things*) brought it up. *add salt grains and some tongue in cheek for effect...

I was just in Pittsburgh around July 4 (saw the Pirates beat the Braves 11-1, delightful) and drove through Cincinnati on my way to a wedding. It's a long drive (plus the highway was shut down for part of the way so had to backtrack through Cincinnati streets which was terrible). The boat down the Ohio would have been preferable.

Why didn't they recall Blankenship to replace Peraza? They have a 3-player bench tonight. I'm guessing it's because Banda and May aren't available and Diaz is iffy.

OK, I give up, why was there just shy of three and a half minutes between the final pitch of the 2nd inning and the first pitch of the 3rd? They were supposedly going to more strictly enforce the 2:05 limit but instead this gap was nearly 50% longer than allowed and for no apparent reason.

I wish! Maybe I phrased it inartfully but we know many seasons where a Mets comeback would have been a shock. This year, it's surprising when they don't come back.
