Looks like nobody cares, anyways. Woulda been fine by me if somebody else started this thread when it became apparent that I neglected this.

2020 - .404 (225 PA's)

2021 - .405 (295 PA's entering today's game).

Perhaps don't worry as much about a game-tying homerun from Soto when the guy behind him has a lot of power, too.

Tylor has been serving a lot of HR balls of late. What advantage he had of the league has waned.

I don't have SNY available today but Howie thought that the reversed call was correct. It seemed as if it was possible that Lindor's heal grazed it while he was holding the ball. What did Gary and Keith say?

Villar did everything he could to add to his total number of times getting thrown out on the bases by 1) admiring the flight of the ball 2) jogging to first 3) turning his head to watch the ball and the fielders instead of focusing on the 3B coach and running as hard as he can.

Pretty unusual to see righthanded pitchers plunking lefthanded batters multiple times.

The Mets would be better off if Luis made his decisions and then did the opposite, like George Costanza.

No more pitching to Juan Soto.

Winning the game aside, there's a home run title on the line here.

The irony, by not counting visits to the mound following the announcement of a pinch hitter, is that it pretty much guarantees there will be a visit to the mound following the announcement of a pinch-hitter.

Clever use of "grant" on the day that Ed Anser passed.

Three multiple-run innings in one game.

I mean, it's game three of a series against the post-abscission Washington pitching staff, but I'll take it.

I noticed this, and also mentioned it during an IGT, a couple days ago.

And after picking up on the trend, EVERY PH appearance since has triggered a PC visit.

Further irony is that twice in the last two days NYM hitters have knocked the first pitch from an incoming reliever over the fence... so maybe these conferences aren't quite as valuable as managers think.

Seems odd that the LCF gap in CitiField would be shorter than Wrigley in the same location, or in Philly for that matter, although some parks, Houston for instance, have higher, even if shallower, walls which would have kept that shot in the park.

Don't really care though as that was the most impressive HR of the day IMO despite the greater distance of the Baez or Bell shots.

And Smitty got an RBI single, though it took four pitches.

One of my proposed rule changes is that if a batter gets a hit immediately following a mound visit that team loses mound visit privileges for the next two weeks.

I have a better idea: 1 mound visit per team per game. that is it. play the game.

I don't got nothing against mound visits in general. When they come in the midst of a rally, and the pitcher needs a reset, and the defense is gathered around to anticipate where to play and where to throw, there's generally something going on there. There's baseball substance. I just noted the irony of the rule change triggering a meaningful increase in one type of mound visit.

I'm beginning to despise them and would fully support cutting them back to one per game. Or maybe could be talked into two if I really wanted some other compromise.

Strategy can be figured out on the field and doing so would favor the prepared team. And if they can't do that then you can either signal or yell from the dugout.

More playing, less yapping. You want to game-plan? ... that's what pre-game is for, that's what practice is for, you've also got nine mid-innings to discuss stuff.

You don't like the fact that your pitcher walked the leadoff hitter and now is 2-0 on the next guy? Tough, you brought the guy in, either trust him to get out of his predicament or yank him.

Watching the Euros earlier this year there came a point in the game where England was clearly reeling while facing Spain, and there was a similar spot with England v Croatia in the

last World Cup, and in both cases I LOVED the fact that nobody on that side could call a time-out, not to 'break the momentum', 're-set their agenda', 'ice the kicker', 'take a breather',

'call a new play', or any of the other expressions that American sports seem to take for granted as part of their games.

And, yes, it's not just baseball. Hoops and football are even worse IMO at allowing this sort of thing, I just care less about those sports so don't waste my time yapping about it.

Re: IGT 8/29/2021 - WASH@Mets - Forgot all about this. Sorry.

Putting a micro speaker in the pitchers cap that only the manager and pitcher

coach can access (like a quarterback?) would eliminate most strictly pitching-

messages that need to be 'conveyed.' If a strategic mound visit is needed, the

manager or coach doesn't need to be present, pitcher can say something like,

"Skip says were doing A & B unless C happens then do D."

Probably a pipe dream.

The "talking about practice" moment was referenced in Ted Lasso, and I had to dial up the original press conference so my wife would understand the context. Man, it felt like Iverson repeated himself for a month.
