It's an 8:08 PM start on ESPN in the deciding game of this 3 game series. He started one game for the NYY last year so this is not his debut. As stated down-thread, he's wearing #86. It's Carlos Carrasco for the Mets. We only do long fly balls with a runner on 3rd after two are out. It helps cut down on all that messy run-scoring stuff.

Carter really is the Derek Jeter of the Mets. He gets credit for everything good that happens. Even when other players did it. And the Mets wouldnt have won the '86 series without him, especially because serendipitously, he got here after instead of before Hernandez. As if that even matters. Doc Gooden has about the greatest pitching season in modern baseball history, gets robbed of the Cy Young award the year before, but it's Carter's number that ought to get retired. Not Gooden's. Even though he was never better than Doc and was toast after his second season. Readers write into the Fath & Fear comments section on the day Koosman,'s uni retirement is celebrated to wonder: Why Koosman's number before Carter's? When there isnt a single speck of a thing Carter did for the Mets that Koosman himself didnt do a zillion times over.

Sorry yes. I was referring to him not putting anyone on base himself. It's still his first ding as a Met. And he wasn't given away. He was traded for a rookie catcher who has since hit .311 / .425 / .541 // .966. Somebody's got to pitch.

He's seemingly been a different guy since coming off the Injured List. He's still been susceptible to the low breaking pitch, but my naked eye says his bat speed has meaningfully improved. He's like Canó 2020 vs. Canó 2019, although that's probably not the happiest of comparisons.

What in the hell is a "high optimistic bar"? Can you go drinking there? Are you saying that I'm now optimistic that Lindor's gonna have 3-HR games? 'Cause that's not even remotely what I was sayin' when I wrote that I'm now optimistic about Lindor.

It's a pretty short sentence, I'm sure you do. Does anyone have the means to post how many multi-rbi games Lindor has in 2021? The other time was on June 19.
