IGT, 9/17, PHI@NYM

Wheeler Dealer goes for the Phillies, and the Mets counter with TieOneOn.

Mets will have to get the early lead to keep the boobirds from owning the room after that St. Louis crumble, and getting the early lead will be a tall order.

This pitching matchup always reminds me of the Goofy short "Motor Mania" where it's Mr. Walker vs. Mr. Wheeler.

If there's no game tonight are we still allowed to leave runners stranded on 3rd with < 2 outs just for the hell of it?

The would be an igt streak for the books.

Re: IGT, 9/17, PHI@NYM

While we are idle, the Braves were idled (rained out vs Rox).

The Phils, OTOH, cough up seven to the Cubs in the 3rd ... then come back with seven in their half of the 4th.

So it's 7-7, top 5 ... and I don't think it's ending anytime soon.

Re: IGT, 9/17, PHI@NYM

OK, so this series is more or less last-stand-ville.

I was thinking that even if we swept the Phils the result would be essentially to hand the division to the Braves.

But the Braves are in San Fran so they could conceivably lose a few between now and Sunday so a sweep here

plus a little damage by SFG and the entire division would tighten up considerably.

Of course it would help if they could get some starters past the 4th inning, not leave small armies stranded on bases, stop

running the bases like a bunch of drunks, hit a homer maybe with a man or two on occasionally, and, y'know, not suck.
