Claudio Scotti, 23, has won two league titles with Fortitudo. Now fly to the Mets

The true American dream: the twenty-three year old Roman Claudio Scotti greets Fortitudo Baseball Bologna after three seasons and arrives in Mlb with the New York Mets. The pitcher born in 1998 has signed a five-year minor league contract with the Big Apple franchise and returns to hope to be able to get to the diamonds of the most important baseball championship in the world: already as a boy, in fact, he was called by the Pittsburgh Pirates and played in a Rookie League (putting together 13 appearances, all in relief) before returning to Italy. This time it's different: after three years at Fortitudo UnipolSai, with whom he won two league titles and a European Cup, the pitcher of the Italian national team who grew up in Cali Roma and also passed by Nettuno has improved a lot under the guidance of Roberto Radaelli and Fabio Betto (the pitching coaches who had the biancoblù) and impressed the US scouts, with a last season closed with 5 personal wins and 87 strikeouts in 50.1 innings in 14 appearances, 12 of which as a starting pitcher.

The process in America

But what path awaits Scotti now? The minor league season (the minor leagues, where teams linked to the Mlb franchises play) is ending and in all likelihood the pitcher will participate in spring training 2022, where the Mets will then choose where to place him to make him grow and see if he can deserve the most stage. prestigious in the world. «This is a great opportunity, a call to which it was impossible to say no since the United States is a dream for those who love this sport. I thank Fortitudo, with whom I lived three important years: the call from the States was a dream, the fact that it can become reality changes everything », explained the pitcher to the Eurosport website. Scotti will pass from the minor leagues and from training to look for a feat that has so far only been successful for Alex Liddi, the only non-naturalized Italian to play regular season Mlb matches with the Seattle Mariners: five years to fulfill the dream of a lifetime.

What pitch do you think he's following through on in the photo above? A knuckle curve?

At 23 y/o I think it's unrealistic to expect him to get any taller.
