Trivia: The Robles Report

The Mets lost Hansel Robles to the Angels on a waiver claim, July 23, 2018. The previous day, Hans had been designate for assignment. On the same day, AJ Ramos was transferred to the 60-day IL (then called the DL).

What two additions to the roster were the Mets making room for?

No, but one of the two guys called up that day is indeed still with the team.

Sewald who, of course, played with Sewaldattle this year, is close, but not quite who we are looking for.

DREW SMITH IS ONE OF THE NAMES!

Well done! You win a golf cart filled with a year's supply of M&M products, being driven up by Brandee right now! Would you like to drive that cart home now or RISK IT ALL FOR A TRIP TO EVANSVILLE, INDIANA BY CORRECTLY GUESSING THE SECOND NAME?!!

Re: Trivia: The Robles Report

No, we're looking for a guy who got a call during an outfield pinch.

Briefly serving as a fifth outfielder provides for few opportunities to make an impression — maybe one start, perhaps an early throw-away pinch-hitting appearance in the fourth, perchance a last-man-standing pinch-hitting appearance in the 11th, and conceivably even a call to pinch-run for a fat catcher in the eighth. If you don't show your shit immediately, it's a ticket back to Palookaville and very likely a long time before the phone rings again.

So yeah, this guy got a chance to be a fifth outfielder, got a paucity of opportunities, totally Emil Brown'd it when those chances were there, got sent down with an ass full of splinters 19 days later, and hasn't been heard from since.

Kaczmarski is our guy. Caught stealing the one time he reached base.

The team was up 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh, and became so demoralized seeing him slide awkwardly and futilely, losing his helmet in the process, that they went on to give up five unanswered runs in the last two innings and lose 5-3.

If you want to feel bad (and who doesn't?), think of him as you see Hansel dominate throughout the post-season.

Re: Trivia: The Robles Report

I always liked Hansel Robles - I think my totally unscientific sense of things is that he'd go on a period of success, get worn out and give up dingers. get his mojo back again and repeat
