An upgrade to Villar?

First "E.E." in Mets history.

Re: Welcome Eduardo Escobar

Pretty analogous to the Jed Lowrie signing. Plays second, third, and short; switch-hitter; in the back end of his career, but has somehow been a better hitter in his thirties than his twenties; two-year deal; can start or come off the bench.

Probably not the most encouraging of developments for the Jonathan Villar Return Watch.

Looking at his last few years, he deserves a hearty welcome.

That's a pretty awful thing to say about a guy.

I see him as a Jonathan Villar replacement. Maybe not quite as fast, but with a more power. Will likely fil a similar role. Hopefully, he doesn't need to be forced into a virtual everyday starter as Villar was for much of the year. Nice addition, but we need a stud outfielder and 1 or 2 good, reliable starting pitchers.

Re: Welcome Eduardo Escobar!

He's certainly a Villar replacement most directly, as I tried to imply. But the two-year deal at similar (market adjusted) money and the late-career blossoming made me mindful of Lowrie.

I like this move. Escobar's a solid player, and they didn't go so long that they block the way for Baty and/or Vientos.

Next up is the elusive "I.I."
