Transactions Freeze

While work stoppages don't necessarily mean a transactions freeze, when it's a lockout and not a strike, it's easy enough for management to make the rules, and a transaction freeze is what we get. (Fun Fact: During the 1994-1995 strike, while there was an unofficial freeze in place, the Mets still traded Vince Coleman, because sometimes you have to put God first.) Anywutz, I think there's probably going to be minor league transactions — free agent contracts, and maybe trades. And I'm guessing if talks progress, MLB might see fit to lift the freeze even before agreement is reached, so they don't have a big chunk of players going to spring training without a team. Either way, you should have taken the Q.O., Michael Conforto.

nah, conforto's going to do fine. Everyone needs outfielders and with the likelihood that the NL is going to gain a lineup spot, there will be even more desire for a bat. Interestingly, Suzuki's posting window is frozen. So he/they get extra time to mull over any offers they've already gotten, which seems unfair. Though I guess other teams can certainly still "float" offers without actually making them.

While the GMs and Agents secretly enjoy this period where no deals can be made I'm guessing that the day after the lockout ends a plethora of deals will be announced.

I'm hoping that Eppler will be busy finding a manager during the lock out. A great opportunity for the Mets to secure a manager and get a coaching staff in place. We Will see how that comes together.

I doubt agent-types are enjoying no commissions, billable hours and such. They're

not wired that way and it's probably driving them bonkers. Imagine having to spring

for your own $100 lunch downtown everyday with no one to expense it out too!

When I was consulting, our senior partner would tell us that if we were in the shower or on the toilet (not exactly his words) and thought of a customer, it was billable time.



Of course that isn't ethical, but always got a laugh.

Of course that isn't ethical, but always got a laugh. Later That's pretty much how it is. I'm certain that the agents won't be shut out of their billables and deductible "expenses" during the lockout.
