Got a little leaky flexible hose under the kitchen sink.

Call a plumber for $160/hour or do some Flex Tape first for a

or week or two?

Perhaps ask the Internet how to fix?

I feel like, if I can turn off the master valve in a house, I can fuck around with anything, and if I can't get the job done, leave that master valve off and call in the big boys. But if you know enough not to electrocute yourself or scald yourself with something caustic, I find most household repairs can be explained to me by some shmoe with a YouTube channel. The trick is getting my wife out of the house, because it'll generally take a little trial-and-error to get it right. And maybe three separate trips to the hardware store. Is that plumbing $$ saved worth a weekend full o' headaches?

If I do call in the plumbers, and the guys want to give me shit about my failures, I can just lie and say that the half-assed work was done by my brother, and he's disappeared.

It's just a small leak in a flexible hose. Maybe I over threaded it.

this is how it starts. I think you have to move.

Plumbing is the one house thing that I will not fuck with. I can do electrical work, I could hammer and spackle and whatnot -- but I do not touch plumbing, because I *will* eff it up.

Scotch tape seems hard to find this year and it's expensive

If it's the hose feeding to the faucet, you can pick up a replacement at any hardware store. I've replaced all the ones in my house over the years.

That's what I was thinking, but I didn't want to misguide him and break his house.

My plumber friend, who unfortunately lives on The Cape, told me to just remove

it and bring it to the supply store and snap a new one in. I said, "Yeah, and if I fuck

that up and we have no kitchen faucet over Christmas weekend KB will kill me in my

sleep." We laughed and laughed... gonna get some Flex Tape this afternoon and deal

with it in January.

If the leak is right where the hose meets the metal, it might not work well. It has happened to me on several garden hoses - no major gush after putting tape on, but still a drip, drip, drip.

Trust me on this one.

But if the leak is on the hose itself, that tape sounds like a good temporary fix.
