Is anybody here Patrick McGoohan from the old ezboard?

Does anybody here remember him and know how to get ahold of him?

There used to be a "who is who" thread but i can't find it

I can e-mail him through the old forum. I actual e-mail address is hidden.

Shall I send an epistle and let him know you seek him?

That'd be great Edgy, he has a book of mine and I know I forgot about it, so I'll bet he did too.

I remembered because the Aflac trivia question was about the Mets and Cubs in 1969, and that is what the book is about

Done. Hopefully the address is still current.

Thanks!

Even if it isn't current, it's still worth a try.

I remember that he disappeared right before the EZ board crash.
He was slated to do the (then) upcoming KTE and he was talking about how he was getting it ready ... and then he never posted it or anything else again. It seemed like he was one of those lost in the crash but he had already been missing for a week or so at that point.

Nymr, the "Incomplete Guide to Who's Who on the CPF" is now located in the Permanent Links Forum. Probably the best place for it, but I didn't realize that it had been moved there.

I updated it a little bit and added a new sections for the regulars that have joined us since the CPF moved here from EZBoard on June of last year.

Sorry, I moved it there. I remember asking if folks thought it was a good idea to move it there and no one responded so I just used my best judgement.

No apology necessary. I think it is an appropriate place for it to be. The Permanent Links Forum is the perfect place for all the reference sites that members may frequently use. It actually makes it easier to find if someone desired to reference it.

So far no luck, so I'll bump for the weekday crowd....

These mystery things would all be avoided if we all just put a clause in our wills to alert the Crane Pool upon our passing.

Actually, your faithful admins should take note of the disappearance of regular posters and write them.

As if our families don't think we're weird enough now.

Well, it would be an awkward moment for Mr. Coo to read that maybe, but you'll be dead and therefore off the hook, and it'd be so considerate to us.

People go into mourning around here when you take a long lunch, Cooby.

That's the funniest thing I've read this morning. I almost LOL'ed.

I know it sounds strange, but I know we have had long time members disappear and everyone wonder what happened to them. As a result I spoke with my son last year and he has agreed to post a brief report on the CPF in the event something were to suddenly happen to me. Of course, I hope that will not be necessary, but as strange as it sounds, it seemed like an appropriate thing to do.

Let me say right now, if I were to suddenly drop dead you guys would never know about it.

I'm sure he's okay. He probably just went out and got a life.

I always had the feeling that if I were to drop dead Edgy would start a search party for me long before the members of my family would.

We've had that kind of situation at NYYFans. Okay, actually we were informed a user had passed away and it turned out it was an elaborate scheme to fake his own death online and see what the reaction would be. It was bizarre because up until that point he had been a long-time member in good standing and he put a lot of effort into tricking everyone. We joke now about the dead rising, but it wasn't really that funny at the time because of how upset everyone was. We have someone else who disappeared for two years at least and we thought something had happened to him, but he suddenly started posting again one day.

On another forum that I'm on, we did have a user who actually did pass away (I saw the obituary and everything). Her daughter came on to let us know what had happened. It was creepy to see her ID on the forum afterwards when the daughter came back to check PMs.

Somebody PM'd them?

There was actually a NYTimes story a few years back about how internet chat-rooms form an odd sort of community. Seems there was this guy who posted regularly (it was an opera forum IIRC) from his office high up in the North tower of the WTC. His last post was at 8:45 AM that morning.
Later on his widow contacted the board (or they contacted her, I forget) to confirm what had happened since maybe only a handful knew where he worked or maybe even knew anything about him aside from his handle.

I remember us (at the old place) taking a head-count in that week that followed.

Sent PMs to the mother's account that were presumably messages of sympathy for the daughter.

cooby

That makes sense. I thought of that later, actually.

Silver, I remember a poster on, I believe, Mets.com (when it was actually run by the Mets and had a nice forum) that passed away. I wasn't posting there then, just lurking (2000? 2001?) but it was pretty sad and people were very upset when this lady died.
