Of course, you should all check your wallets when some twit begins with "Of course." Reyes's scoring has very little to do with his speed, and pretty much everything to do with his grotesque number of PAs last year. If you let JB get 700 PAs last year in that lineup, he'd probably score a few runs too.

Of course, we'd all prefer that he walk more and get more hits, but my guess is that those accomplishments will come with time. In the meanwhile, I think his game is so different from that of other players that it should be judged by different metrics.
Another "of course" is very comforting. I hadn't realized that Jose's game (soccer? Table tennis?) was so radically different that any thoughts any of us rational mortals might have simply don't apply. LGM! Strap on those Piazza footie pjs and go signing up Rey Ordonez again! Metrics don't apply to Mets! In Met-land, metrics follow you! YGB! Last place or bust! No dogs or rational people need apply!

Bret, while i happen to agree with the substance of your point, why couldn't you make it without being personally abusive to jb? You called him a twit, made him out to be a Koolaid drinking Methead, and were unusually condescending and rude, even by your standards

Is JB amongst the many CPFers that you feel have earned your righteous wrath somehow, so you therefore have no obligation toward civility?

and am i now victimizing you by pointing out that you just behaved like an asshole to someone who is amongst the most genial of posters on this forum?

I've never ignored you, and i've defended you on more than one ocasion, but this martyr-bully role you play has become exhausting.

Take it to the Red Light Forum, Vic. I'm talking baseball here.

Or if you want to know why I consider jb to be a meddling, officious and obnoxious lightweight twit, write me an email. But there's no need to get into this on the Baseball Forum.
