Thinking about it, if Kershaw is looking for a one-year deal, doesn't mind being the No. 3 starter and wants to chase a ring, I can see why the Mets might want him. But I also have a hard time believing the Dodgers would let him walk away.

i'd be ok with a clayton kershaw, depending of course on the cost. there'd be an incredible risk that we have no available starting pitchers, of course, but otherwise, i think it could work out fantastically well.

For a one-year deal, yes. But somebody will overpay for his past production and get burned for it.

Maybe they're gonna enact a rule during these ongoing negotiations that the team with the most past Cy Young Awards on its active roster gets an automatic pass into the playoffs.
