Chicken Shortage or The Sky is Falling?

I just read a facebook thread where everyone is carrying on that there's no

chicken and many said they've been told there won't be any anytime soon?

I was in a giant Shop-rite Friday and they had chicken out the wazzoo.

Chicken shortages aren't going to mean no chicken, just more hit and miss delivery schedules to where there'll be less than you're used to and/or fewer varieties on given days.

And almost certainly higher prices and fewer sales.

I used to interview John Cats all the time, often enough to know how to spell his last name. He's a good quote!

Local dive-bar chalkboard last night:

My local Costco still has a large supply of their steroid-free rotisseried chickens and hasn't raised the price.

Yeah, The Great fb Chicken Scare was pretty short-lived here.

Shop-rite this morning was well stocked with overpriced meat products. (But

I suppose that's for the inflation thread)...

Re: Chicken Shortage or The Sky is Falling?

Of course the "over priced" thing is related to scarcity (supply & demand and all that jazz)

No, inflation is a real thing and can't be explained away like that.

Re: Chicken Shortage or The Sky is Falling?

Inflation is real and it has many causes, one of which can be scarcity.

In this particular case, less available chicken, or fewer varieties available, leads to the same number of buyers chasing a smaller supply. Result = higher prices.
