The Ronnie/Clarence back and forth on that one is pretty damn cool!

A while back we had a thread on best early R&R songs, the ones from the pre-British Invasion era that you'd use to explain the genre to someone somehow unfamiliar with it.

BE MY BABY was on my list and I think it just might be the most perfect R&R/pop tune ever.

Between the full Phil Spector production, Hal Blaine's drumming [Boom Boom-Boom POW], and then there's the voice, THAT voice, singing ... no, pleading, for you to be her baby.

Yeah, Ronnie, I think I can fit you into my schedule.

Most, if not all of us, were either non-existent or too young to have heard or appreciated how new and game-changing that sound was back when it first came out (1963) but, man,

Johnny was thanked during her HoF speech also. Come to think about it, she seemed to have a lot more to say about her post-Ronettes career.

That track deserves a thread of it's own. In fact, "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" above (both the original and Ronnie's cover) quotes that drum phrase.
