Weird Al Yankovic is writing and producing a biopic about himself starring Daniel Radcliffe. Sounds weird, which is on brand!

Even more on-brand would be finding an unknown accordion kid looking for his big break.

Maybe for the childhood version of Al.

Man really hates U2's band name, songs, and lead vocalist.

Just in case you were holding out hope for a reunion of The Smiths.

The B-52's have announced that their 2022 tour will be a farewell circuit. Down to three full-time/original members since original drummer/latter-day guitarist Keith Strickland hung it up a decade ago, the outfit are veterans of an astounding zero nominations for the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame

Reached via their publicist on Planet Claire, the band listed the listing of Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson as sixth and ninth (respectively) on the Women of Post-Punk/Nu Wave/Power Pop Rankings as their proudest achievement.

Loder here to report CPF favorite and Johnny Lunchbucket's Close Personal Friend Freedy Johnston is recording again for an album due later this year.

The Lunch Family is very familiar with the first single, having seen him performing it many times in recent years but mainly solo, and can report the recording with a band and all is a winner.

Re: Kurt Loder Dropping the News Beats in 2022!

Anti-Covid-mitigation activist Eric Clapton forced to cancel several shows after contracting Covid.

"It is very frustrating that having avoided Covid throughout lockdown and throughout the period when travel restrictions have been in place Eric should have succumbed to Covid at this point in time," read the announcement on Clappy's Facebook page, "but we very much hope he will be sufficiently recovered by the end of the week to be able to perform the remainder of the planned performances."

So during the period of mandatory Covid-mitigation strategies, he was Covid-free. During the period where he was left to his own devices, he quickly contracted it. And the implication of the announcement is that it's somehow just lousy timing luck.

Also, Rolling Stone is making waves with an explosive article suggesting that Taylor Hawkins' death was a result of being driven to exhaustion.

Seemingly damning quotes from skin-banging colleagues Chad Smith and Matt Cameron are being claimed by both parties as having been taken out of context.

“It was the 3rd of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day.”

Yesterday was 55th anniversary of Billy Joe McAlister jumping off the Tallahatchie Bridge, immortalized in the Ode to Billy Joe by Bobbie Gentry.

Freedy's hitting home runs again.

“‘Madeline's Eye' was inspired by my hearing the B.W. Stevenson hit ‘My Maria' on the overhead music somewhere. A smash hit. That's where the musical feel is borrowed from. I'm just doing my part for the environment by recycling the groove. The lyric is your typical human/android love story. A love for the ages. The kind of love for which there really is an instruction manual and a tool kit. She's starting to think, ‘Maybe I am a machine' and ‘Why do I keep setting off metal detectors?' I am sure Dr. Sigmund could analyze the heck out of the writer of this song.”

Tasty/Creepy, Freedy.

Also worth noting in this space that fellow Brooklynite John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants was seriously injured after a show at the Bowery Ballroom when his cab got t-boned at an intersection by a drunk driver. Flans is the guitarist/co-leader, and this show was to be the start of a tour, now delayed indefinitely.
