Outta Towning 2022

Couldn't find a vacation thread for this year.

Weather permitting, heading off to southern Spain and Morocco this Saturday for four weeks. I get a 4-week sabbatical every ten years at my job, this one coming three years late but now upon me.

Sounds like a nice trip. Enjoy, Sharpie.

My wife and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary this June with 8 days in Aruba.

Nice! Enjoy.

We're considering Mexico for the first time later this year. We've never taken a real "just lie on the beach and do nothing" vacation.

We did a week at an all inclusive resort in Cancun in 2019. I would recommend it in a hurry, we had a fantastic time there.

I have a trip to Hawaii planned for the first two weeks of April. Unless there's yet another COVID surge...

If the trip comes off as planned and the lockout ends soon enough, the first two weeks of Schaefer voting will likely be delayed. I do apologize for any inconvenience.

We're headed to Flagstaff/Grand Canyon in April, coinciding with Mets-Dbaggs in PHX. Also getting in a visit to ASU, Wife Bucket's Alma mater and Lunchpail's 1st college visit.

If you go to Cancun, be sure the resort doesn't suck ass, as the one we visited some time back. Weather was great, folks were nice, but hotel sorta sucked and we were stuck there

Re: Outta Towning 2022

I'm not a fan of all-inclusive resorts although I know many people are. I used to like going to Playa Del Carmen, just up the road from Cancun, fewer drunk frat boys wandering about, but the last time I was there it felt like it was heading in that direction. For Mexican beaches San Agustinillo in Oaxaca state is outstanding.

I'd go to Mexico.

If I had the Secret Service protecting me.

I was in Naples, FL for a week earlier in the month and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I hadn't been away from home in a while.

As an LA Rams fan, I might scope out a trip to the Super Bowl if they win this weekend. Ticket price might be a barrier to entry, but seeing my team play for a championship in their beautiful new home stadium is an opportunity for a memorable experience.

Spent last week in Longmont, Boulder and Golden, Colorado. Beautiful country. Rapid-tested before, during and after and we were negative the whole time. Saw some friends we hadn't seen in two years and it was awesome. An outdoor afternoon at the Left Hand Brewery was a highlight of the trip. The sun gets warm at altitude, even in January.

Going to go to the beach (OCMD) this year after a (2?) year hiatus. Already paid for thanks to the travel app we used. Grrrrrrr.

It's going to be in early July which is just a few short months away!

Snowing there too I think, lol

I'm hoping to take advantage of the NPS free pass program for 4th graders and their families and visit a National Park this summer. We went to Yellowstone and Grand Teton a couple of years ago but haven't figured out where to go this year.

Currently somewhat stranded in midtown Manhattan with my flight canceled for this afternoon, so I guess that counts for this thread. :)

Just back from a week in lovely Sayulita, Mexico for a surf trip. Went full Bourdain on night 2 and tried some local tacos from a viejita's shack late at night and our whole group got sick until the last day.

Trip busted :/

Moral of the story: Lean into those google reviews, friends, even in foreign locales! 0 stars and "cerrado" would have dissuaded us.

We were in Mexico and decided that the two greatest inventions in the history of mankind were air conditioning and Imodium.

Those were way more fun than food poisoning. The photog is a center back on our local pro futbol team. He started a little side hustle we wanted to support, and we were really just hoping his finger wasn't covering the lens the whole time. He came through bigly.

Re: Outta Towning 2022

Got back last night from a week in California, visiting relatives and seeing friends. My great-nephew turned 10 and is obsessed with Elvis - dyed his hair black and had it cut so it looks like he has sideburns. At his party he wore full Elvis regalia and sang Elvis songs via karaoke. He doesn't sing well but he totally has the moves.

I'll be spending all of next February in Mexico - my third year of spending all of February somewhere outta town.
