Went to my first concert since 2019. Got to see Mat Kearney, one of my faves.

I misread the ticket and thought the first act went on at 7 p.m., but it turned out that was when the doors opened. So I was relatively close to the head of the line. I walked in to the area and saw there were plenty of spots right in front so I ended up leaning right on the barrier, just to the left of the center of the stage. This is a small-to-mid-sized venue, so there is no real bad place to stand or sit. But it was neat to see all the things you don't get to see when you are back a little, such as all the pedals and other gear on the floor.

It was easier leaning on the barrier than trying to just stand the whole night, and I used the time to try and learn how to work my new phone. Kearney attracts an older crowd, so it wasn't like people were rushing the stage. I never felt squished up against the barrier.

It was a great show, and he's touring on a strong album.

I really missed going to concerts. I love that moment when the house lights first dim, and the energy in the room just elevates. I feel like bit by bit, we're starting to reclaim things we've lost.
