This is my favorite Skynryd song:

How innovative! And what album is that thing on? The K-Tel version of Lynyrd's Greatest Hits?

I used the K-Tel reference as a way to mock that song. Do you ever comprehend anything I write?

That's your fave LS tune? Figgers. It's a freakin' bar song that I've heard a zillion ways over. High school kids, playing their instruments for barely more than a year could play a song like that. Which they do. In freakin' bars. At two in the morning. In front of two drunks and three of their loyalest friends.

It's just mind-boggling that you could write this after the way you abused and mocked me for years and years and years while all the while, I ignored your posts until I didn't anymore.. What did you? Have a fucking lobotomy where they took out the part of your brain that held all your memories of you fucking brutalizing me for years for no reason at all?

I already explained that stupid song. It's filler. A throwaway song. It sucks. It's not in the slightest, representative of any of the stuff that made LS the tremendous band that it was. It doesn't showcase their talents or their style. It's generic in the strongest sense of that word. That could be any band playing that song. Including hack high school-aged "musicians". There's nothing interesting or unique about that song. If that's your favorite LS song -- favorite, mind you -- you're a fucking retard, understanding full well the totally subjective nature of all of this music poll stuff.

I mean, it's not like you said you like that song. Or that you like it a lot. That's your favorite LS song.

The 'fucking retards' at Guitar World disagree:

[BLOCKQUOTE]Skynyrd's purest romantization of the musicians' vagabond lifestyle—boozin', cruisin' and lady choosin'—was a vehicle for Ed King's snapping Strat and Billy Powell's straight-up Johnnie Johnson piano riffs. It's a shot of basic rock and roll that resonated with the group's hard-partying fans.

So no surprise that the song became a staple of concerts and ended up on side two of the pre-crash lineup's only live album, albeit with Steve Gaines playing King's parts. All three guitarists were Peavey endorsers at the time, as a glance at One More from the Road's back cover amply displays. Another retard post. What? Editing's not allowed? If, for example, I wrote that Sparky Anderson managed the Mets and then, after being corrected, edited my initial Sparky post to make it appear as if I never made that incorrect statement in the first place, that'd be one thing. But that's not happening. So I don't know what your fucking problem is other than you have nothing interesting to say so you grasap at anything you can think of, no matter how retarded it is, just to say something, anything.

If you continue to search that junky LS song, instead of just cherry pick posts, you'll find that the overwhelming opinion is that that song is junk. But whatever. This is subjective. It's like debating baseball uniforms.

Gold & Platinum Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Gold & Platinum was compiled by Gary Rossington and Allen Collins, the two surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, after the band's tragic plane crash of 1977. Though many years have elapsed since its 1979 release, the double-record set remains the best, most concise compilation of the groundbreaking Southern rock band. Over the course of two albums, all of Skynyrd's hits -- "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird," "Saturday Night Special," "What's Your Name," "You Got That Right" -- are featured, as well as essential album tracks like "That Smell," "Down South Jukin'," "Gimme Three Steps," "I Know a Little," and "Tuesday's Gone." Some great songs like "Workin' for MCA" are missing, and the four-disc box set may be more comprehensive, but it's hard to imagine a better, more concise greatest-hits collection than Gold & Platinum.

From Wikipedia:

https://www.thecranepool.net/images/wikignp2.png>

It's on one of their compilations because the song evokes tremendous sentimental memories to the surviving members about the band's earlier touring days and about their deceased bandmates. But there's no getting around that it's a basic bar blues song, generic, unimaginative and really uninspiring.

You have a tin ear. Years ago we had a thread here about how Led Zeppelin (and the Yardbirds) lifted Dazed and Confused from Jake Holmes. I remember that thread because I did the posting. I even posted a youtube link to Holmes's original recording. And you challenged it. Even though the lifting of that song would be obvious to any idiot once it was explained. But not you. I've long expressed my desire for the forum to elect a new moderator. My fellow mods have long since turned in their papers. I would beg you to be excellent to one another, but barring that, all I ask of any and all is that you keep your personal beefs over here.

Re: "Whiskey Rock-a-Roller" (Split from "Dysyrt Ylynd Myx Typ")

This is the job of a moderator, found via net search, and not my opinion:

"Moderators use their judgment to decide what information is approved or removed according to standards and guidelines. They also provide discussion topics, encourage participants to share, answer questions and define boundaries and rules for the group or discussion, and remove unrelated or inappropriate content."

This is the job of a website administrator, same disclaimer as above:

"Web administrators design, develop, maintain and troubleshoot websites. Most importantly, they ensure a safe and efficient user experience. This may include implementing security protocols, modifying programs, creating backups, resolving software problems, updating content and more."

Quoting your latest comment on the Censorship forum:

"I've long expressed my desire for the forum to elect a new moderator. My fellow mods have long since turned in their papers. I would beg you to be excellent to one another, but barring that, all I ask of any and all is that you keep your personal beefs over here."

Now that the conditions have been defined, ask yourself which is more important - a moderator or a website administrator? Which activity is more essential? The answer to both is website administrator. The word "approved" is part of only the moderator definition. Dump the "red scissors" aspect of the moderator's job and what do you have? A website administrator. Hence: the role of moderator is unnecessary, causes global heartburn, accomplishes nothing that doesn't piss off someone who believes the moderator should as least address their concern(s), such as myself assuming you have ignored my request above to remove from your Censorship forum my answer to Whippoorwill that targeted no one and contains no cursing or insults.

Why would anyone voluntarily assume the role of Red Scissors Wielder unless they have dictatorship tendencies? I surely wouldn't. I also would not vote on a poll to elect a new moderator. Let people rip on each other as they wish. Everyone here is entitled to say what's on their mind and if others dislike it, they can ignore it or counter it. No "moderator" needs to gum up the works. When it gets old it will die and everyone will move on without a nanny pushing them back and yellowtaping the area. Presumably, this is why your "fellow mods have long since turned in their papers."

Think about it. Don't just react.

I assure you that neither the term "Red Scissors Wielder" nor "dictator" apply to me.

"Nanny," neither, for that matter.

You "assure" me? Why don't I find this credible? What do you call your practice of cherry picking threads and moving them to this location as punishment? I use terms that describe what I have observed. If you don't believe they properly describe this activity, what are your labels? I have to question your motives.

Also, please address my request to remove my non-incitatory comment you included in this string. Just do it, since you deny being a dictator or censor.

As well, did you read everything or just the parts that you believe are meant to indict you? Why not outline your scope here?

As for "being excellent" to one another, this is not a class of second graders. That was how we were taught back in the mid 1950s to achieve a positive citizenship/deportment grade - behave and don't embarrass your parents being the subtext. Are children even taught "citizenship and deportment" anymore? I have no idea, never having gone the parenthood route. This is not meant as a snotty question, since "tone perception" is an obvious criterion to cause a scolding. You have a group of strong-minded, opinionated participants who didn't come here to "be excellent."

You have not provided a considered response to what I wrote. It is indeed a reaction.

Why are you not interested? It's difficult to believe you take your moderator duties seriously if you refuse to reply to the clear points I spelled out in my post. You cannot assure someone without being interested in assuring them. To end this string, if you truly care to, all that's required is for you to do your moderator duty and remove my non-inflammatory comment from this location, as I have politely and repeatedly requested, and put it back where it originated. At least acknowledge that this is a reasonable request. Ignoring it is a dereliction of moderator duty.

Crickets.

To the surprise of no one.

After running off roger_that and ceetar, you presume to "assure" I give up and go, too? I can "assure" you that is not happening. There is a salient reason why.

Yes. These polls are supposed to be fun!

I like Simple Man because like the mom in the song I just want my son to be happy, not always looking for more.

If that makes me cliche, so be it.

We all have our own tastes and I'm getting tired of trash talk over likes and dislikes.

There's enough other stuff to disagree about.

Shinedown's cover of Simple Man is my favorite song.

There are thousands upon thousands of places on the Internet where people can post mean-spirited, slanderous things about each other. If the moderators here want to keep discussions civil in every section of the Pool but one, I don't have a problem with that. Moving hijacked threads that turn into strings of personal attacks into the part of the forum set aside for such things isn't censorship. I'm not aware of anything being deleted - just moved to the proper place, just like if someone posted a movie review in the baseball forum.

You miss the point. I am requesting my comment he included here be removed from here. It was a few short words answering Whippoorwill's question. That was all. If you claim that Edgy MD does a good job, you should also agree that he should remove that comment from HERE as I have repeatedly requested. Not to do so is mean spirited toward me, which seems now to be his goal.
