Re: Memories of Brad Hand

Narrows the options on lefties.

Brad Hand joined the Mets in September, and the Mets were really pretty crappy in September, so most of his appearances occurred with the team behind and likely to stay behind for good. He did pick up his one win in Game Two of a doubleheader hosting the Marlins on September 28.

The Mets were tied through regulation, which was seven innings back then. Neither team scored in the eighth, and Handy entered the game with the unhappy prospect of Jazz Chisholm as the magic baserunner on second. He got his three outs in order, despite Chizzy advancing on a passed ball, and a deep drive for Out #3.

The Mets went to bat with Javier Baez on second. Two groundouts later, and Mr. Hand had secured his 1.000 winning percentage as a Met.

Re: Memories of Brad Hand

Came aboard after his and the Mets' peak. September 2021 was one of the gloomier Met months of recent vintage and, try as he might have, Brad Hand couldn't lift a finger to clear the clouds away.

I recall a push for the Mets to sign him a year or two before he actually joined the squad. Other than that....

Ex-Marlin, ex-Nat and ex-Met and prospective Phillie Hand has a leg up on joining the NL East Four-Timers Club.
