Memories of Chance Sisco

For 10 moving place appearances, Chance Sisco was a 2021 New York Mets. Now, suddenly, he is not!

The Mariners saw to this wretched turn of events four days ago. I am only finding out about this now, and goodness knows, I am not pleased.

Chance cashed in his opportunity in the finale of the Mets' visit to San Fran last August. Big hit to help prevent the 107-win 2021 Giants from ultimately matching the 108-win 1986 Mets. “Take that, Frisco,” gloated Sisco.

That was his lone ribbie as a Mets. Sisco > Frisco.

Re: Memories of Chance Sisco

Chance played in two Futures Games, so clearly the scouts thought he was something at one point, but the first thing I noticed was how unlike a catcher he looked. He looked athletic, but tall for a catcher, with slenderish shoulders and a wiry neck and a triangle shaped face. He looked more like an oarsman than a catcher, or like a corner infielder who didn't have enough power so he took up catching late in his career to stay in the show.

That's the look of a quarter miler at the Millrose Games, no?
