While the Mets players injure the Marlins this evening, the front office has added insult, claiming Marlins righthanded reliever Yoan López off waivers.
YoLo, a product of Cuba, has appeared in 113 games for Arizona, with the bulk of his big league time coming in 2019, when he was second on the staff with 70 appearances. What's interesting is what's happened since then, as he was traded to the Braves in 2021, but didn't appear for them, and has been DFA'd three times this offseason and claimed three times, going from Atlanta to Philadelphia to Miami and now to the Mets. I guess he read G-FaFiF's essay about NL East completionism and wanted to record a tenure with each team. Too bad he hasn't yet actually appeared with any of them.
And he may not be appearing with the Mets any time soon, as he was optioned to Syracuse shortly after being claimed. But welcome to the battle, YoLo!
