The doubleheader the lockout wrought commences at 3:10 PM. Starting pitchers for the opener (and nightcap) to be announced. Either prospective 27th man David Peterson or Carlos Carrasco for the Mets; either Charlie Morton or Kyle Wright for the visitors.

I think Charlie Morton is older than I am. Somewhere there's a baseball card picture of him that gets older each year while he doesn't age. You watch him pitch and think you could just grab a bat and get a hit off him. Then you find yourself carrying that bat back to the dugout. Not today, old guy! LFGM. Later

The staff has suddenly allowed 10 runs and 5 HRs over the last two games. Now would be a nice time to stop doing that.

Chasing the starter early in Game One of a double header is gold. I'm not sure the Mets have had a swing and miss yet. Canha struck out looking on a pitch that probably didn't touch the zone.

A couple of rough calls in that inning. I think that's a good sign of whether a young pitcher will stick — do crappy calls break him or not.

There's a chance that foul double nicked the bag. It seemed to change trajectory around that point, and that may explain the call.

It's a shame that we couldn't wrack their pen but Morton suddenly started getting single-digit pitch innings after looking like he wouldn't get past the 3rd and outlasted Peterson who obviously got undone in a two pitch sequence.
