Fourth game in <48 hours against the reigning Champs.

'twould be real nice to take the final three and keep the series winning streak alive, including winning all three four-game series in the young season.

The booth is making a lot out of Ian Anderson's deceptive pitching motion.

Heredia's grudge against the Mets for waiving him has to be an all-timer.

He sort of re-invented the way you're supposed to play outfield defense there.

Bit of a harder working inning there in the 3rd for Megill.

But still with a decent pitch count (44 thru 3) and, oh yeah, 8 straight innings over two games without a hit allowed.

Last night I was thinking of which current Mets player would one day be a major league manager, and Guillorme was the one I settled on.

This isn't based on any specific trait you could point to, but Buck seems to like him and maybe sees a little bit of himself in him - scrappy guy with a good baseball mind.

Or maybe not.

Back to the game.

I am very puzzled by Ottavino as the first call to the bullpen.

If you're Buck, and this is a high leverage situation that calls for a “circle of trust” reliever, then you need to use Lugo.

If you're Buck and this is you're “the guy who needs work pitches” then you go to Williams or Medina from the start.

No situation seems to justify Ottavino.

I thought Escobar could/should have been on 3rd after his hit got kicked around in the RF corner. If he did he'd have scored on the IF hit.

It's too early still to play so conservatively. Chip away. You don't need all 7 runs this inning.

It's early and I want to give Buck the benefit of the doubt, but I fear he was holding back Lugo for later innings. Liking the Ottavino slider is fine if he hadn't thrown in each of the past 2 games.

Lugo is pretty good against righties too and wasn't gassed. From April 25 through today, May 4, Lugo pitched 2.2 innings, with 23 total pitches. He had capacity and Ottavino did not.

I think we're going to have to get used to this with Megill. He's been a great addition to the rotation, but he works VERY deliberately when there are runners on base.

Hey, we just gave up the DH! There's an outside, outside chance we'll get a pitcher batting this game!
