IGT 05/11, NYM@WAS

Back in the nation's capital, the Mets try to make it three in a row with Tylor Megill on the bump. The Nats counter with Aaron Sanchez, a righthander coming off of a brutal Coors Field beatdown. Look for lefties to return to the lineup, including Smith and possibly Jankowski.

Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso have played in every game this season so far. I mean, yeah, that includes DH'ing, so it's totally cheating, but it's something to consider as you play Guess Tomorrow's Lineup!

Among the considerations, of course, are that Pete Alonso played 161 games in 2019 and 152 in 2021, so it's only injury that will get him out of the lineup, but a more puzzling consideration is his L/R splits, which suggest he's that strange right-handed duck who hits righty pitching better than lefty. He's played enough to suggest that this isn't a small-sample-size anomaly, but not enough to state that as a proven fact, so when to rest him if you think he needs a day off? Hard to say. Better not to rest him at all, I'd say.

One thing's for sure: until shown otherwise you NEVER want to cheat him out of an at-bat against the Nats. He's completely crushed their pitching over his career: [url]https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=alonspe01&year=Career&t=b

Win tonight and we'll have surpassed last season's high-water mark. Our failure to exceed that 8-10-games-over range we hovered in while the rest of the division was struggling doomed us last year. Like then we have some space but we need more. More More!!

Except that his beard is back

I mean he's only been growing it for about a week now but it's essentially a full beard at this point.

I only wish that batting average was augmented by some baserunning achievements.

From your list, here are the entries where all of the members were born in the States (to my knowledge):

The Allman Brothers

Creedence Clearwater Revival

The Doors

Big Brother & The Holding Co. with Janis Joplin

Simon & Garfunkel

Bob Dylan

Jefferson Airplane

Sly & the Family Stone

Blood, Sweat & Tears

So, from this batch, yeah, I put peak 1970s Aerosmith up against all of them, sure. Like KC, I can still listen to selections from the 2 radio friendly albums in the 80's, there are some good riffs in those records.

Okay, here's my revised list of 30 I'd listen to before Aerosmith, no Beatles or Stones, have it your way:

The Allman Brothers

Creedence Clearwater Revival

The Doors

Big Brother & The Holding Co. with Janis Joplin

Simon & Garfunkel

Bob Dylan

Jefferson Airplane

Sly & the Family Stone

Blood, Sweat & Tears

Lynyrd Skynyrd

The Mamas & the Papas

The Lovin' Spoonful

Three Dog Night

Grand Funk Railroad

The Beach Boys

The Byrds

The Velvet Underground'

Love

Foghat

Steely Dan

Yes

Electric Light Orchestra

ZZ Top

Steve Miller Band

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

Boston

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

Santana

Moiuntain

The Stooges

Mc5's
