Re: IGT 05/17 - Cardinals at Mets - Release the Hounds ll (G1)

I know we we won't be seeing Wainwright, he went Sunday night v the Giants.

I was hoping SF could really rake around the StL bully in that final game but it was the Cards who hung a 15-spot on the Gints.

In fact the Cards, not wanting to waste an arm in mop-up duty, turned to Sir Albert of Pujols to pitch the 9th in a 15-2 game.

He gave up 4 runs on 2 HRs, but got through the inning and was able to tack P onto his resume leaving C & CF as the only

positions he never played (he's like the anti-Craig Biggio/Dale Murphy)

That song is one long annoying and uninterrupted screech, like the desperate sound a dog whose tail was caught in a live shredder would make. I couldn't make out a single word Bon Scott sang, not one. You probably had Styx and Foreigner posters hanging from your bedroom walls when you were a teen-ager. You probably still do.

Brian Johnson. As if that even matters. Now I have to root for the Mets to lose so you wont start another IGT. At least for a little while, anyways. Hopefully. You said you weren't gonna start any more of these. How long did that last? A day and a half? What's the longest you ever went without starting one of these? Three Mets losses? Four, tops.

He's got a slider, but instead of breaking off the plate toward the back foot of lefthanded batters, it's breaking outside-in, right into their wheelhouses.

It's almost as if it is deliberate.

All seriousness, if a 12-pitch Lugo inning is so taxing that he can't pitch a second inning…on a doubleheader day…that's not great.

Re: IGT 05/17 - Cardinals at Mets - Release the Hounds ll (G1)

Hey, I agreed with both your assessments.

I suspect Buck's line of thinking is to try to get extra innings out of the back of the pen while keeping the frontline guys fresher for future usage sooner ... like maybe starting about four hours from now.
