wow...I realize people love Luis G, but he has no business batting leadoff...He's scored less than 26% of the time that he's gotten to first base on his career...

But he's getting on base 41% of the time this season.

That's because he usually bats 7th or 8th. Leadoff batters maybe have a little bit more baserunning skill than most, but mostly they're helped by having good hitters behind them. Guillorme isn't fast, but he's smart. It's not an awful choice.

That being said, I would have put McNeil in that spot.

Bracing myself for hearing "Guillermo" all night from the jamokes in the booth. It's already started.

I might be overstating this but in previous years when Jeff took two pitches that he thought were outside of the strike zone but called a strike, he would have mentally checked out of the AB. Not so, this year.

Yep. And McNeil hitting that on 1-2 came on the heels of Alonso dunking an 0-2 to short center and Lindor working out a walk from 0-2. None of that happened much last year.

underwhelmed by the insights of the announcers. A lot of platitudes, generalizations, meaningless observations. "It's tough when you lose...if you've got one pitch that no one can hit, keep throwing it" sort of thing. Or have I been spoiled by good announcing?

Saturday night in a fashionable nightlife neighborhood with the best galleries. Breezy late-spring evening. Looking across the river at Hoboken from the Skyline? Checking out the Basquiat pieces at The Starrett-Lehigh Building.

Nice to have the series 'W' heading into the Wheeler game.

At worst you still take two of three and stealing tomorrow's game would make it extra sweet against a division opponent.

What it does is provides more evidence that the claim of, 'if replay corrects even one bad call then it's worth it', is a total lie.

I'm not sure who you're quoting, but I was just joking. It was clearly a terrible decision — certainly the worst I've seen this year out of Chelsea, and perhaps ever. I think Tylor Megill's mom should be hired.

Re: IGT 05/28 - Phillies at Metropolitans - All Day and All of the Night

Not quoting anyone one person specifically, but some form of that quote has been used as an all-purpose rationale in favor of replay reviews for decades now. My point being that judging the justification for the rule on that standard alone is wildly misleading as it ignores so many downsides.

Replace Smith with Nimmo (and shuffle positions accordingly for defense) and this is the best Mets lineup. Guillorme is out hitting Smith and Davis right now and may just be better than either of them. of course, if the DH spot is the one that is 'open' you might expect Plummer or Magnum or Vientos to be the best option in the organization right now if defense doesnt matter.
