Going to the Game 2022

Centerfield
May 26 2022 07:43 PM

24 hours from now we'll be at Truist Park taking in Marlins-Braves.

We usually buy souvenirs from all the stadiums we visit, but we're not allowed to wear the gear of any opposing NL team. Especially not in the NL East, and especially not the Braves.

ShortCenter asks me today. “What about a Hank Aaron shirsey?”

What say you CPF?

Re: Going to the Game 2022

Yeah, definitely the exception to the rule. And I'd even venture to say the only exception to the rule, because there's nobody in the Phillies, Marlins, or Nationals history who would be allowed. (And nobody else in Braves' history either.)

Hank Aaron is definitely allowed.

Also, framed photos of Chipper Jones with matching dart set.

I think I would be fine with any of the loveable loser Marlins from the 90s. Who is hating on a Jeff Conine jersey? Livan Hernandez is a classic too.

I just dont have the hate for Miami that I do for philthy and Atlanta

This, and a John Rocker jersey is not.

If CF wants to give me a billion dollars, I will happily arrange for him to have that Millan jersey before tonight's game.

Re: Going to the Game 2022

My brother fishtailed his Vespa on wet leaves a few weeks ago. He popped right back up and found his left arm to be non-responsive. Now he has all sorts of screws in there.

Every time I think of getting myself some sort of motorized two-wheeler, my first thought is that I'd be cooler than the Fonz. My second thought is that every biker and most scooterers I know have fucked up their arms or worse.

I've managed to roll through some bicycle spills, but I'd be surprised if I lasted three weeks on motorized one. Heal soon, Steve.

This is canon, man. He ditched the street hoodlum scene because the rest of his friends were using him, acting tough by association but making him finish the fights they started against other gangs.

Fonzie was looking to get out and the room over the Cunningham garage was the gateway.

And come on, he certainly didn't spend all his time with those fools.

Oddly, I seem to have screwed up my order back over the offseason-- and bought Tuesday Night Mets tickets for the MFY series on that Wednesday instead of on Tuesday.

I feel like to stay "on brand" I should look into a swap with someone--maybe I'll call my "personal contact" at the Mets, young Max-- but if I can't pull that off we'll be at Citi in Section 505 that night.

Looks like game is 1:40, US Open has rounds at 11, and 7pm. Depends on how early you'd like to be there. The traffic from the US Open should be minimal. The US Open site says they won't be parking people in the Citi Field lot that day, but that's only for people that listen to the people directing traffic, which has always been the WRONG thing to do in the 25 years I've been driving to Mets games. But, that should mean minimal people parking in the Citi lots, so it should be somewhat normal, if you can, enter/exit on the Shea Rd site, not the Roosevelt Av side, and know where you need to go to get away from the stadium when you leave, because the people directing you are idiots and you can easily end up literally just circling Citi Field.

Don't forget to check out the Seaver statue, you can probably ignore the Wilpon Ebbs Brewery and just go in. The good beer is still mostly at Empire State craft type places, field level by the foul poles.

I need to pop over there for another game at least before the playoffs. running out of time.

Wild Card tickets went on sale Tuesday morning at 10. To my surprise, tickets are still available for Games 2 and 3. (Didn't check Game 1.) Got tickets for me and my two kids for Saturday's Game 2. Surprisingly easy! What's up with that? The last time I tried to get postseason tickets was in 2006 and I had to enter a lottery or something.

They finally found the sweet spot of "so ridiculously expensive that they don't sell out until the last moment, extracting every last possible cent"

Also with 4 rounds, and no one really expecting this one, I suspect a lot of people just figured they'd aim for another round. I did some budgeting and decided if I'm gonna splurge for one game, it'll be the World Series this year. too much going on personally.

Re: Going to the Game 2022

They have increased the cost of single-game postseason tickets substantially. Supply is also up with the extra round.

In an effort to incentivize full/partial season ticketholders, the playoff tickets sold to them are heavily discounted.
