There are only 3 games left this year that will start after 7:20 Eastern:

June 21 in Houston (8:10)

July 14 in Chicago (8:05)

September 23 in Oakland (9:40)

(Barring some sort of rainout-induced doubleheader)

Thank goodness. This whole past ten days, the only two game I got to catch the endings of were the two Sunday night tilts.

If you want to look ahead for games where we will miss GKR, go here:

The better the Mets do, the more they will be moved to a national broadcast.

Da Brews cruised thru April and May ... but a 2-9 start to June (>twice as many runs allowed as scored) has dropped them out of 1st in NLC a game behind StL

And it's not like they were playing a murderers row of teams over this recent stretch: CHC, SDP, PHI, WSH

Their pitching was at or near the top early on but is now no better than 7th in RA/G

Don't like that double steal attempt with two outs ... particularly when the back side runner weighs 240

Back side runner can also stay put, getting a short head start with the pitch when the firstbaseman abandons the bag, hold after about 20 feet, and then break on the throw to third.

I've said here before that one of the things I like about baseball is that I never tire of seeing a well-turned DP.

But Guillorme and Lindor take that concept to a new level.

They remind me a little of 2006. That team had a similar first half where they avoided losing streaks and everyone took turns being the hero.

Lindor, Guillorme, Escobar (and Marte) have a thing when returning to the dugout where they continue flipping the ball between them as they run off the field. Not sure the TV cameras would show it. Lots of fun.

Re: IGT Tue. June 14 MIL @ NYM: Hey, it's good to be back home again

Nice accountability from Bassitt. Classy.

[url]https://www.sny.tv/articles/mets-chris-bassitt-tomas-nido-same-page

[I feel] relieved more than anything. I just think the extra time we had, I was able to completely break down what was going on,” Bassitt said after the game. “When it came to pitching itself I didn't make many adjustments there wasn't much, it's 100 percent all on me.

“Me and [Tomas] Nido were not on the same page at all. The more and more I fought, the worse and worse I did. We spent the last week getting to know each other and bettering the game.”

The relationship and trust between a pitcher and catcher is very important, and Bassitt had that rapport with James McCann since they worked with each other during spring training. But with McCann down with an injury, Bassitt had to work with both Nido and Patrick Mazeika more.

The veteran believed they would build that relationship and figure it out during games, but it didn't happen and he couldn't see that it would take some self-reflection to get there.

...

Tuesday night was a product of that. Bassitt was using his fastball to get ahead in counts and then used his slider and curveball to put away hitters. It was the formula that made Bassitt an All-Star last season with Oakland and it was what made him successful earlier this season, but the last few games it was in reverse and the veteran, admittedly, couldn't see it.

“[Nido] had an unbelievable game. It's easier when he knows what I like to do on every count. I really regret not doing it a couple weeks ago, but I just didn't know. I never really dealt with this kind of thing. I made a key judgment error that lasted a few weeks,” Bassitt said. “Early in the count we were on the same page, late in the count we were on the same page. It was freeing."

He added, “I just thought the last couple of games we would get on the same page and it just didn't happen. And I blame myself. And I apologized to Nido and Mazeika. It was such an obvious thing to do and I just didn't do it.”

Re: IGT Tue. June 14 MIL @ NYM: Hey, it's good to be back home again

I appreciate the "accountability" but it's gotta be more complex than that. I mean, "I was successful throwing fastballs early and breaking stuff late, but I never brought that pattern up with my catchers, who kept calling for the opposite, and I kept throwing what they calling for weeks, so I was getting clobbered start after start until I realized OMIGOSH I should tell them the pattern that works for me. What a poopyhead I am!!" doesn't quite add up.

Yeah, I read that article at least three times and it made little sense to me. Were the catchers calling Bassitt 's pattern in reverse? If so, why? Or did Bassitt wanna pitch those two losses in reverse pattern?

And if the catchers were off, isnt Bassitt supposed to shake them off? It's so confusing.

And if the catchers were right all along, why does Bassitt explain that those two losses were in reverse pattern and he got back to his pattern last night?

Re: IGT Tue. June 14 MIL @ NYM: Hey, it's good to be back home again

I think what's obvious is that body language alone showed Bassitt and Mazeika weren't connecting in at least 1 game I recall. And if you belive the persona they're trying to create for Bassitt in those SNY promos, it's possible he might be the more ornery one in the relationship. Also, I didn;t read the article. What does Hefner say?
