TWiB Notes -- July 11-18

JT Realmuto has no problem with losing $260,000 (or hurting his team) as he is one of 4 Phillies who says "my body, my choice":

Makes you wonder which "doctors" told JTR that he's better off without the vaccine.

Suess? Pepper? Schols? Dre?

I like how he terms approximately $260,000 for 2 days as "...little bit of of money". A little out of touch with the common man.

Cincy scores 4 in the 9th to beat the Yanx 4-3

Gerritt Cole left after 7 with a shutout.

Re: TWiB Notes -- July 11-18

I wonder if vaccination status will factor into trade deadline decisions. I know Benitendi is highly sought after by the Yankees (among others), but if he is unavailable for several trips to Toronto for AL East contests (as opposed to the three games KC plays there) would it affect his value?

It would have even more of an impact if the Blue Jays were considered to be a potential postseason opponent.

Amazingly, a presidency that began with demagoguery about not allowing foreigners across our southern border has led to the president's faithful not being allowed to cross Canada's southern border.

That's two catchers and, like, five or more outfielders on that list.

Re: TWiB Notes -- July 11-18

Yanx win in Cincy when:

- Reds fail to score in top 10 despite runners on 1st & 3rd w/no outs (K, GiDP)

- Edwin Diaz's brother throws consecutive wild pitches to allow the ghost runner to score from 2nd without the benefit of a hit

Earlier, the Yanx, who have had their starting five start 84 of their 88 games so far this season, pulled Luis Sevarino after two innings with a shoulder injury after surrendering three consecutive HRs to start the frame.

They are currently in a playoff spot so it's still possible. I don't know how any team can consider one of these players in a trade, including the Mets and Benintendi. Maybe the Mets won't play the Blue Jays in the WS but this says a lot about how these players view themselves as opposed to being a member of a team. As Andy McCullough wrote in The Athletic:

[BLOCKQUOTE]Getting vaccinated does not make you a better ballplayer. But it does demonstrate a commitment to a shared purpose, the sort of step that teams with championship aspirations ask players to take. At a time when clubs circle trips to Toronto with trepidation, the Astros and Yankees do not have to worry about that nonsense.[/BLOCKQUOTE]

Re: TWiB Notes -- July 11-18

Worth noting that the US has the same policy as Canada, so any non-US citizens on the Blue Jays have to present U.S. has a policy similar to Canada's, so all non-U.S. citizens on the Blue Jays must be vaccinated to play any road series.

And all non-Canadian citizens need proof to return to Toronto.

The shit these players are saying to justify themselves is maddeningly obtuse.

That Reds/Yanx game that was 1-1 after 7 ... the Reds held on to win 7-6 in 10 and I was 100% sure they were going to lose it Every. Single. Moment.

Second straight over NYY for Cincy.

Oh and Matt Carpenter hit his 11th HR as a Yanqui ... in 68 ABs

He has 23 hits.

Not that it really makes a difference but the wins weren't consecutive. Cincinnati lost yesterday in the 10th in part due to the idiotic extra inning rules (Reds pitcher throws two wild pitches, loses without giving up a hit).

Reds did win Tuesday, scoring 4 in the 9th to win 4-3.

There's a to-do now since one of the players said "I'd have gotten the shot for a contender".

And management is pissed - BIG time.

If I'm the Blue Jays I'm conducting a stealth campaign to convince other MLB players that vaccines are bad for your health. They'd then clean up in home games facing nothing but minor leaguers.

Now all you need is someone to pull it off so it'll never be traced back to the top echelon.

I wonder what G. Gordon Liddy is doing these days?

Thanks, but I'm not sure that's ethical or cool enough to pass off legitimately in the Twitter medium. What I need is a "dummy" account to Tweet that, then I retweet it, is the play

Whoa, bases loaded, 0 out, tie game, infield in. And a 5-2-3 double play.

Then a comebacker, and now, stupid version, extra innings.

Re: TWiB Notes -- July 11-18

What a piece of shit inning by Boston: one run lead in the 9th

IF 1B, HBP, E-1 (tie game), IW ... and now a 5-2-3 GiDP so maybe the get out of this after all (should have had a GIDP on the E) ... AND THEY DO (1-3)!!

Good news: Yanx had tie game, bags loaded, no outs, and didn't win

Bad news: Sawx blew the save without a ball leaving the IF

Only so long that the BoSox will get away with this shit.

Sawx score on a Very Short wild pitch w/2 outs in 10th.

Now let's see if they can make a one run lead stand up in the ghost runner era.

Re: TWiB Notes -- July 11-18

It's going to be another long one in the Bronx.

1st inning took a half hour. 4-1 Yanx. Multiple hard outs on each side or it would be more.

Taillon & Pivetta are the [CROSSOUT]victims[/CROSSOUT] pitchers, at least for now.

And Matt Carpenter hit another HR, his 12th in 72 ABs.

Bonds, in the year he hit 73, didn't hit 'em at this rate.

Time to have fun with an MFY fan.

Ask him if Carpenter's success is because:

1) American League pitching sucks, or

2) He plays in a bandbox, or

3) both

Then add:

His improvement is more dramatic than Paul O'Neill's, but probably without the steroids.
