Wow, Wayne just said the last double header the Mets played that both games went to extras was in 1983, when Jesse O was the winner of both games. (9 in ing DHs) Bases loaded for Big Meat

Please tell me why Diaz couldn't pitch again? I heart Buck but this game counts and if it didn't rain yesterday Lopez wouldn't be playing. UPDATE: Buck knows what he's doing.

Wow! The Mets escape with a second extra inning victory today. The Mets made the plays they had to make down the stretch. The Cubs, on the other hand, show that bad teams that are struggling just find a way to lose close games.

This team has been good enough that when one piece isn't working (hitting), another piece bails them out (pitching and defense). Also they've had some real contributions from fringe players- the Adonis Garcias, the Yoan Lopezes, the Nick Plummers, the Patrick Mazeikas. That being said, they need to get a real DH at the deadline.

Yeah, they were handed some games by the Cubs and also recently by the Marlins.

OTOH, all season long they've been sneaking runs and sometimes driving trucks through cracks they're being gifted.
