Some guys will be batting on both teams in various orders.

Man, once again, fuck the WPIX network and their Mets deal. You know how many shitty pop ups I had to slog through to find a live stream of this game?

Bassitt pitching well but the Mets Noffense seems to be in form again.

Yeah lots of non clutch non performances at the plate when it matters tonight. And yesterday

Re: The WAIT!, we need an IGT thread (SDP @ NYM 7/23)

The team seems to have collectively stopped hitting. Hits are few and far between and hits with runners in scoring position are practically nonexistent.

Boy this feels just like yesterday's game. Ugh. Down 2-0 on a damn Padres dinger

Two nights in a row where a non-strike three gets followed by a HR

The Mets offense just doesn't give the pitchers much room for error.

Shades of last year when leadoff baserunners seemed to always decrease our odds of scoring.

Poor decision not to get the sure out at first on that ground ball by Alfaro.

Yep, dumb. One out away here from making it not matter. Here's to hoping

Ground out by Grisham for the second out (should be out of the inning). Runners at 2nd and 3rd. Big hitter for Bassitt.

Bassitt get the strike out to end the inning. The defense made him have to work overtime that inning.

Morejon was bringing some gas (consistent 98-99) out of the Padres pen. Didn't look to be throwing that hard, but he blowing it by the Mets hitters.

Well, it's do or die time for the Mets. Alonso, Cahna, and Escobar against the Padres lefty closer.

So we're in the 9th, down by 2, and it begins like 5 other of the 8, with a leadoff runner.

And its a fly ball to the warning track for Cahna, and now, it's the king of warning track flies, Escobar. Who's also the Prince of "strikeouts when you need a hit."

That fly ball by Cahna to the edge of the LF warning track was the most excitement the Mets has provided thus far tonight.

Come on Escobar.

JD comes through with a wounded duck of a flare to shallow RF. Now it goes to Nido with the tying run on 3rd.

It's a bloop single for the King of Whatever, JD Davis.

Now it's 1st and 3rd for Nido, the Duke of the Unexpected RBI Clutch Hit. But also, the King of We Need A Better Hitting Catcher And I Think He Is Hurt

And what about McNeil?

This was one of those games where for various reasons I had to see in bits whether with radio out back, TV, phone etc, so saw much/also missed much.

So what I guess I didn't realize here, or didn't hear/occur to me was that McNeil was also an option.

I know--lefty starter. And lefty closer. But, he was also a starting All-Star, and Nido was not. And Nido might be hurt. And regardless, he arguably could have been an option to have PH for anyone who batted that inning, but Nido, with the game on the line.

Is McNeil also hurt? And why was Buck was cagey when asked about the Nido v McNeil decision? Essentially he granted only the obvious-- McNeil was an option. And Nido was an option.

Re: The WAIT!, we need an IGT thread (SDP @ NYM 7/23)

McNeil has been Schrödinger's hurt for months.

but you cant' let Nido bat there. Gary was opening questioning if he was even healthy enough to swing the bat (which he did) during AB. So a bad hitter with an injury is who we're giving those AB too.
