Well, if Gwreck's up, I guess we can trade off guesses without two-in-a-rowing it. Venezuelan Carlos Carrasco is captured on a 2022 TCG R&R card, pitching on One-Hit Wonder day, a festive Mets day adopted by Steve Cohen based on my personal recommendation, which the Mets now hold once or thrice a year. On One-Hit Wonder day, a pitcher who had once pitched a complete game one-hitter for the Mets is honored. The outfield walls are decorated with 45RPM sleeves of memorable one-hit wonders and the one hit wonders play all game long. Gary Gentry was the honoree on the day Carrasco pitched. Gentry was flown in and put up at a 4-star NY hotel and was also awarded an olive green Amana refrigerator for participating.

OK, I was thinking in terms of clues. We have TEN guys remaining. Firstly, all of these guys pitched in the 21st century. We've had Venezuelans in baseball since 1939, but it is in the latter day when they came to MLB in such high concentration. So, some of these guys may be easy to confuse and conflate with others, but there's a good chance you have a passing familiarity with most of them.

Omar Daal is 12th in Venezuelan MLB wins, with 68. It is a fine guess but it will not avail you. I won't dock you because I'm not really keeping score on this one. I'll throw in another hint. The dude that got the attempted murder conviction was also the father of a big-time Mets prospect. At least, his son was pretty big-time at the time of his signing, and quickly started making top-ten lists, but he topped out in Brooklyn, back when Brooklyn meant the short-season high-A NY-Penn League. His dad's prosecution was going on while he was trying to get his career off the ground so maybe that's part of why things didn't work out.

If you step back far enough, you can frequently spot to see different patterns of names coming out of Venezuela than might be coming out of other Caribbean countries. Obviously a name can come from anywhere, but such an effort can lead you in a Wilson Alvarez-y way.
There you go! Kelvim is our guy! Exactly 100% of the Kelvims in MLB history are Venezuelan!! While I abhor answers phrased as questions, I celebrate Gwreck's answer because Kelvim is not only our seventh-winningest Venezuelan pitcher, but had the saves list gone to 10, you all would have seen that Kelvim is also our seventh-savingest Venezuelan pitcher, and then Gwreck could have really raked in the fake points! I'm really disappointed in how poorly you folks know your felons. Venezuelan Winners

Yeah, that's the thing. This is diabolical, and I feel like answering that question-- requires answering one or two others.... who was closing for the Cubs that season? Or what year was it when the MFYs shit the bed? That are also just beyond the same next-level understanding of "What's the difference between pitchers from Venezuela and pitchers from other baseball Latin countries?"

Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't get to this earlier. Good for you, as you are dead on. Ugueth is our Expos guy, the father of onetime hotshot Mets prospect Juan Urbina, and quite sadly, an ex-con who served seven years for attempted murder. For our purposes, he's the guy who saved the second-most MLB games among all Venezuelan-born big leaguers. The others aren't even particularly close. Let's finish this quiz before Carrasco passes Kelvim Escobar in wins! Venezuelan Winners

I apologize for having missed this guess at the time. Yoervis Medina totaled two saves, which ties him for fortieth among Venezuelan MLB-ers, along with ex-Met Luis Avilán, among others. Remember that the guy we are looking for played with the Cubs, Astros, and Diamondbacks, doing his most damage with the Cubs, and pitched in the post-season five straight years. Yoervis Medina, mostly a Mariner, saw no post-season action. We've also established that the guy we're looking for pitched against the Mets in the post-season. I'll add that his team advanced to play the Mets in the post-season only after he saved the series clincher in the previous playoff round. Venezuelan Winners 1. Felix Hernandez: 169 (Gwreck) 2. Freddy Garcia: 156 (Marshmallowmilkshake) 3. Johan Santana: 139 (batmagadanleadoff) 4. Carlos Zambrano: 132 (DocTee) 5. Anibel Sanchez: 112 (Marshmallowmilkshake) 6.
