Seemed we fleeced Houston to get him. Heckuva 2019. Huge walkoff hit vs CLE after which JD from Cali screamed about “New York swagger” will stay with me.

Re: Memories of J.D. Davis

Had an obscene first season, which maybe made us all think he was a little more than he actually was.

Did everything he was asked, more or less, but never seemed to get traction.

My friend Greg and his goofy 877-RUNS-NOW song on Twitter.

Got only 25 innings at first this season, but may have made the team's best play over there of the year.

Lost his spot due to his failure to consistently hit the past 2 years.

Jonathan Gregory Davis, but JG Davis doesn't sound as cool. Never seemed as bad in the field as his rep. Ran into bad luck with injuries, and then seemed to hit the ball well this year without success. I werry this is going to haunt us the way DFAing Justin Turner did.

I think this is true. First impressions matter, and he made a good one. But he could have forced his way into more playing time this year, and he simply didn't.

Re: Memories of J.D. Davis

Another specific memory I have was from the Rain Delay Theater podcast that Gelbs and whatshisname did two years ago. All of the interviews were great, but JD came across as really likeable, albeit frustrated that he was miscast wherever he was. He talked about how people thought he wasn't good defensively, but he worked really hard at it, and was frustrated that the team saw him as an outfielder when he'd been an infielder his whole life.

Huge two-out double as the Mets came from six runs down in the ninth against the Phils.

Dom struck out (twice actually) and the momentum seemed to flag, but not for J.D.

Hit a monstrous first-inning HR in Pittsburgh on a Sunday when the Pirates wore gorgeous 1979 throwbacks.

I remember because shortly after I had to drive to the ER as the result of a home repair incident.

I like the sad fan thinking of all the things she could've done that night other than going to a Phillies game.
