Who is the Mets' emergency catcher?

Say Nido starts, but there's a crucial two-out AB in the 7th inning, do or die spot, and Buck PHs for him. McCann comes in to play D, but is injured or ejected almost immediately. Who catches?

Wild-ass guess? Guillorme. He has a catcher's build and we know he's got good hands. And knowing Buck, whoever is the emergency catcher has already been practicing.

Yeah, I pretty much settled on Luis as well.

I think it was rifle-armed JDD prior to his trade.

A Daily News article from May indicated that Guillorme had indeed volunteered to serve as emergency catcher if needed.

Re: Who is the Mets' emergency catcher?

Eduardo Escobar caught the ninth inning of a blowout game back in 2017, when the Twins put starting catcher Chris Gimenez on the mound.

He obviously threw down the right signals, as the Mariners went down in order.
