After a hard-fought series against a tough team, it seemed like a good night to get some fresh legs in the lineup, to avoid a letdown. Just a too-late-to-matter thought. A still timely thought, though, is that maybe McNeil hitting fifth works better.

Yeah, but the problem is that Gore and Marrero aren't really lineup-caliber for a 1st place team. Nevertheless, I agree with you. If Marrero started maybe McNeil could stay off whatever was injured yesterday. The others are McCann (his reward for hitting the ball hard 3X is a night off), Ruf (1B and then Pete has to DH so you can't DH Vogelbach), and Naquin

That sub lineup would give me flashbacks to some of the teams in the 70's - the bottom of that lineup was so weak that you could go eat dinner, knowing you wouldn't miss anything.

Booth giving McNeil props for holding back to draw the throw and making sure Vogelbach crossed the plate before getting tagged. Not sure why the Nats didn't just throw home, as they probably had a play there.

Yeah, I don't ask for my ballpark experience to reinvent the wheel every night. I just want it to be distinctive from the experience at the Cardinals' or the Rangers' parks.

Now we got one. You don't even have to burn Gore, as we see here. Naquin can upgrade you on the basepaths significantly without giving you a whole lot of downgrade in batting two innings later.

Yeah, this was long overdue. A sequence of singles and doubles and productive outs against a bad pitcher on a bad team playing out the string. It's the way OE: +triples

My MLB account blocks me for all Washington & Orioles games, so I live vicariously through the in game threads. At least this is preferable than when I was always blocked from Atlanta games until MLB inexplicably switched to Washington and Baltimore black outs.

I guess you're probably about equidistant from ATL and BAL/WAS But how it's usually determined is which team's games you could possibly get via cable pkgs available in your area. MLB doesn't want folks doing an end run around those channels that have lucrative deals with the clubs.
