The Cubs play SF in Chicago tonight so on one hand I hope for a long game and a late arrival in NY for the Cubs. OTOH, SF hosts ATL tomorrow so safe travels and rest easy, Giants.

Joining your New York Mets tonight will be Trevor May and Luis Guillorme, both sprung from the IL. Deven Marrero has been dessicated for assignment (ouch!) and Bryce Montes de Oca will climb Mount Injured List from hamstring tightness.

Ex-Mets from Cubland include Marcus Stroman and … that's about it. But Mark Leiter, Jr., has an uncle who was a Met and a dad who was a spring training Met. Catcher Wilson Contreras, whose non-acquisition at the trade deadline was the source of much gnashing, is on the Great List of the Injured. Four-game Met Andy Green coaches the bench, and one-time banjo-hitting fifth outfielder Willie Harris coaches third. Princetonian ex-Met Chris Young minds the bullpen.

This is an existing DH rule. You can insert your pitcher in for the DH in the batting order (at which point you lose the DH). I've never seen it before, in an AL or NL game.

So they lose the DH but that slot is only going cone up once more (if we're lucky) so it's a PH situation and by running Givens you save all your PH'ers.
